Automotive and Components
Tshwane accounts for over 40% of the passenger, medium and vehicles produced in the country, with the productions plants for BMW, Nissan, Ford, Tata and Iveco located in the City.
Tshwane and the Gauteng province are central due to their proximity to the large inland South African market as well the neighbouring export markets of Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique.
Business Process Outsourcing
As the administrative and academic capital, the City’s knowledge and information industry is well-developed and positioned to capitalise further on the BPO&O market.
As the diplomatic capital of South Africa, with a rich heritage, favourable location and cultural diversity, Tshwane is a major visitor destination attracting business, leisure as well as shopping, medical and sports tourism.
Mining and Beneficiation
Although mining and related sectors play a small role in terms of contribution to City GDP, opportunities exist in downstream beneficiation and support services to mining companies and operations in adjacent regions.
