The Tswaing Meteorite Crater which formed 220 000 years ago in Tshwane, became the first ecological wonder site in South Africa.

First Game Sanctuary

Tshwane is home to the first proclaimed game sanctuary in Africa, the 500 ha Groenkloof Nature Reserve.
